I'll try my best to translate the Kannada matter in the two leaflets/pamphlets into English as soon as possible.

I've mailed them without translating them into Kannada due to the unavailability of time because of (or before) the Water March in Karnataka on Saturday, June 30, 2012 / 30-June-2012 / 30-06-2012.

[rti_india] denial of rti info by dy director of libraries - illegal construction of library in people's park

Subject: denial of rti info by dy director of libraries - illegal construction of library in people's park

I am sorry for having resent the message as the previous/earlier one was not showing the image / picture file attachment.

As expected I've received the above reply (denial of RTI information) from the Deputy Director of Libraries by Registered Post Acknowledgement Due on 26-06-2012 / 26-June-2012 / Monday, June 26, 2012.

I am sharing this in haste as a/one Mysore based NGO has plans to go to the Karnataka High Court because the illegal construction of library has already started inside the People's Park.

The Department of Libraries unfortunately seems hell bent on constructing a library inside the People's Park in connivance/collusion with the other maladministered/misgoverned government agencies at the city level [Mysore City Corporation (MCC), Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA),….] and state level.

I've already conveyed through my RTI Application dated Monday, June 11, 2012 / 11-06-2012 / 11-June-2012 that I'd be going to the Lokayukta and Upalokayukta (non-judicially) as soon as possible against all those who are behind the illegal construction of a Library right inside the People's Park in Mysore City.

The respondents could/may include the various the state government agencies, government/public servants and the politicians (MLAs/MLCs/Corporators) irrespective of their/his/her political affiliation.

I'll file my first RTI appeal along with my RTI Application and will share it with the national and regional media and groups/lists later as I do not have the time (right now) to translate the RPAD that I've received from the Deputy Director of Libraries, Mysore word by word from Kannada into English and file/give/send my reply/rejoinder.

The MCC is denying me information on almost the same topic for the past two to three years (since 2009) but I had remained silent since the illegal construction of the library had not started till June 2012.

I may have to reproduce the above mentioned matter once again when I give my detailed press release to the regional and national media.

Mysore: Syed Tanveeruddin, member of the Karanji and Siddharthanagar Tax Payers' Association, Mysore, has launched an online campaign against the "controversial and ambiguous" amendments made to the Karnataka Right to Information Act, 2005. "Even before this amendment, the State officials used to hunt for a clause under which they could deny information. We will continue our fight against the government's action until the changes in the Act are not dropped," he said in a press release here.

By the people, for People's Park Mysore - Deccan Herald, Monday, June 24, 2012

Greens, young and old alike, on Sunday gathered at People's Park in Nazarbad in the Mysore city, to register their protest against the ongoing works on library.

The protest, which is snowballing into a movement with Mysore Grahakara Parishat (MGP) taking the lead, was mixture of creativity. From a street play to rendering of songs, venting anguish against the system, the agitation, though silent showed all signs of making the authorities concerned hear.

The play 'People's Park Ulisi (Save People's Park)' by Ranga Sinchana troupe lasted nearly half-an-hour. It depicted the love of birds for nature, woodcutters, whose livelihood depends on trees  among others who are connected with nature in one or the other way.

The play directed by K N Vasudevamurthy carries the message loud and clear. For records, it was for People's Park, but resonated the pulse of the happenings in other parts too - irrespective of cities.

Shashikala, a retired professor created a soothing atmosphere binding the students with nature. 'Ella Maaya Naale Naavu Maaya (Everything vanishes/disappears, tomorrow we too will/would vanish/disappear)...', a Kannada song which takes on multi-national companies for eroding natural resources, filled the air with the protesters adding chorus.

Students of Kautilya Vidyalaya, Sri Cauvery Educational Institution, among others, clad in their uniforms carried placards with a common message 'Save park for the future'. A group of students stood apart by turning their drawings on nature into placards for the day.

MGP distributed pamphlets printed in both Kannada and English explaining the need for an agitation to protect People's Park, one of the several landmarks in the Mysore city. Bhanu Mohan-led group of activists of Parisara Samrakshana Samithi planted saplings, hoping to add to the existing green cover.

Major General (retd) S G Vombatkere, Bhamy V Shenoy, Dr R Balasubramanian of Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM), Vasant Kumar Mysoremath and others were present.

All the petitions that have been already created at the http://www.thepetitionsite.com/ continue to face some technical problem or the other for about 06 consecutive/successive months in a calendar year w.e.f. 2009 because of which none of the petitions on the http://www.thepetitionsite.com/  can be updated/modified/edited and new ones can't be created. Unfortunately the problem continues for several months even if the site's been informed about this problem at the earliest.

Save People's Park Campaign in People's Park, Mysore City on Sunday, June 24, 2012 / 24-June-2012 / 24-06-2012 at 10:00 AM

The District-In-Charge Minister and Minister of Medical Education S.A. Ramdas is determined to construct a four laned highway/expressway and a Ropeway to the Chamundi Hills and to shift the existing KSRTC Sub-Urban/Rural Bus Stand to the JK Grounds which legally belongs to the Mysore Medical College (MMC).

The MMC could/may face problems (of de-recognition) from the Medical Council of India (MCI) or Indian Medical Council (IMC) if the playground is converted into a KSRTC Sub-Urban/Rural bus stand.

The MCC has constructed a mall (commercial complex) for Reliance Fresh at the KSRTC Sub-Urban/Rural Bus Stand by misusing 30 crore(s) of JNNURM funds despite objections/protests from some NGOs.

About two days ago there was a news report in a local daily stating that this District-In-Charge Minister wanted the DPR (Detailed Project Report) w.r.t. the shifting of the bus stand to the JK Grounds within 03 days.

Thanks to the JNNURM funds the politicians and the officials / bureaucrats of the district / state / central administration seem determined to execute all the unwanted projects come what may as they seem/are no longer scared of the RTI, Sakala, Judiciary, Lokayukta/Upalokayukta and Central Vigilance Commission (CVC).
Ropeway: NOC sought without filing EIA report - The Hindu, Wednesday, August 06, 2008

Confusion continues over status of project at Chamundi Hills

Environment impact assessment report should be prepared by an independent agency: NGOs

There is widespread opposition to the project

Re: [rti_india] CONSUMER PROTECTION

You can go in for executuon of oerders through the CIC or the Court or through an CWP in High Court. Seek the advice of an Advocate.

Dear Friend Mr. Parboth Chander Bali has forwarded the following mail regarding  "Petion to Governor of Punjab for Removal of Mr. Surender Awasthi, Information Commissioner, from the post of State Info. Commissioner.

Subject: Petion to Governor of Punjab to Remove Mr. Surender Awasthi from the post of State Inf. Commissioner
To: Surendera M <surendera@avissoftware.com>

Dear RTI Volunteers,

It is matter of great concern that many a Punjab SICs are not competent to work as Quasi-Judicial Officers which have great responsibility on their shoulders to impart Justice and to adjudicate the matters in soul with the preamble of RTI Act 2005 i.e. aims at setting out the practical regime of right to information for citizens to secure access to information under the control of public authorities, in order to promote transparency and accountability in the working of every public authority.

I was much aggrieved from Mr. Surender Awasthi and had filed a petition to His Excellency, Governor of Punjab, for removal of Mr. Surender Awasthi from post of Information Commissioner with immediate effect.

The matter is serious and will be followed in Apex Court in case nothing reasonable precipitates out.

I beg all the RTI fraternity to please do not hesitate to file such petitions where ever if some of our brother is convinced that an IC is not fit for the post and deserve a removal

Please save the attached file for your record and reference.

(please see the order and letter for Reopening attached as ANN-P1 & P2 with original the petition to understand what the matter is)
